We are currently running programs at Franklin High School in stepping stones fashion to make volunteering more accessible to all students. David is Passion Impact’s Program Manager and also represents Campus Compact’s Connect2Complete AmeriCorps Program. He serves closely with Franklin High School staff and students to facilitate and provide access for all programs.

The Volunteer Fair Program

This is largest commitment of all of our programs. Students trained over the summer and have signed on to plan, build, implement and evaluate two Volunteer Fairs at Franklin High School throughout their school year. This requires they attend bi-weekly meetings for 8 weeks with committee mentors and an evaluation week that prepares them to take on their next Volunteer Fair with greater confidence and direction. The next Volunteer Fair is on November 15, 2018!

Xplore & Ignite

This program is for students who are looking to expand their volunteer knowledge as well as potentially join the Volunteer Fair Program. X&I empowers students to become independent volunteers through communication, volunteer resource, and reflection training. Throughout the eight weeks, students will also tour and volunteer at a nonprofit within the same issue area. The end of the program results in students creating a LinkedIn and a Resume that include the skills they have learned throughout the program.

Volunteer Events

For students who may have never volunteered, have conflicts with the VFP and X&I, and who are looking for easy access to volunteer, we host monthly volunteer events on and off Franklin High School campus with partnered nonprofits.

Monthly Reflections

We offer a space for students to meet monthly and share their volunteer experiences with one another. This provides a portal for students to learn about new volunteering events, organizations, and make new friends. Discussion also surrounds the connection between volunteering and students’ classroom topics in order to more effectively identify the value of their education. They also have the opportunity to complete graduation requirement with editors on site helping with resumes, LinkedIn, .5 credit electives, and CRLEs.

Catalyst

To encourage students to volunteer and reflect on their volunteering experiences, we have designed and released Catalyst to Franklin High School students. It is six rank system with increasing levels of volunteering and reflection commitments that award students with pins, stoles, and ultimately a $500 scholarship toward their next educational aspirations. Still in it’s pilot stages, Catalyst prompts students to record their volunteer events and apply their reflections to writing blogs, crafting dynamic LinkedIn’s and resumes, and creating a Passion Plan for their continued volunteering after they complete all ranks.
