SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Applications are open until:

May 2nd, 2021 at 11:59 PM!

Through a partnership with SummerWorks, students at Franklin High School and McDaniel High School take on a 6-week paid summer internship to grow into leaders of the Volunteer Event Program.

Students will be vetted through their GivePulse application and an individual virtual interview process before becoming paid summer interns. After being admitted, interns engage in team bonding and self-awareness training. Throughout their position, they create job descriptions for themselves as well as each of their respective committees, recruit committee members, and train them for the school year. They will also undergo professional development training and complete the full list of projects, as can be seen by clicking here.

“We were tasked with reaching out to professionals in careers that we were interested in. So once again that was just a great way to explore different pathways that I could pursue. It also got me used to reaching out to people in organizations in our community in a professional manner because that’s something I’ve had to do a lot of in VEP. So the internship got me ready to go with that!”

– Jennifer Truong, current VEP Member and Former FHS Summer Intern

To support students in their work, we provide professional development training relating to social justice, committee needs, and skills needed in tomorrow’s workforce. Students are required to engage in informational interviews of professionals in the field that relates to their leadership position and then link it to their job descriptions.

Interns are also required to create their own website as a portfolio of their works as they write reflections based on their experiences. Their stories are highlighted in our newsletter that comes out on a monthly basis.

Curious if you would be a good fit to be interviewed by interns? If you work in any of the following industries or your position connects to the below jobs, we encourage you to reach out!
