Xplore & Ignite (X&I)

As an outlet for students to become independent volunteers, Xplore and Ignite could be a catalyst for students to learn how to find their interests and engage in them. Interests that help their community and their own futures. Imagine 9th and 10th graders completing Xplore and Ignite and building relationships with one, or even multiple, community partners. They continue to volunteer with those partners as their efforts impact their communities. Practicing reflection throughout X&I could reinforce how important it is to continually reflect on their civic engagement events. As they add more skills and experiences to their resume and LinkedIn, they also see the importance of the education they are receiving at the school. Connecting their education and civic engagement could be the lightbulb that a student needs to find relevancy in their school work and future. They can focus on goals that lead them to post high school pathways of fulfillment and purpose.
